There have always been Dwarf Lops here. Even when we were successfully showing Miniature Lops, I always kept a few of my old favourites. I like the temperament of the Dwarf Lop and, now that so few are seen on the show table, I feel it's important to preserve this delightful breed.

Our first Dwarf Lop buck was my daughter's pet, bought from Pat Todd who encouraged us to show him. He did well, winning many Best Junior awards for my daughter, and it wasn't long before our friend, Hilary Jessey, had acquired a doe from Pat. The first litter arrived but tragedy struck when they were 6 weeks old as a fox killed the doe and carried off most of the kits. Two kits survived and became our foundation does.

Soon after this, I moved away from the south coast to the Berkshire/Oxfordshire borders. A succession of house moves made breeding all but impossible but we eventually settled and started again. We went on to breed some winning rabbits, mainly in REW, one of whom won two Best in Show awards.

My daughter decided she'd like to try Miniature Lops and, with the help of Alison Foster, we spent several years breeding the occasional winner, mainly in blacks and butterflies. Her interest gradually waned and by 2000 I was showing all our stock on my own. I still had a few Dwarf Lops from my original line and decided that the time had come to re-stock.

With help from my good friends, Val Bidwell and Christine Hunter I gradually started to rebuild a small stud of Dwarf Lops. Things really began to come together in 2003 when I acquired a new buck from Alan Butler and breeding does from Graham Coote and Sarah & Hazel Elliott. These rabbits added the spark the stud needed and my breeding plans really began to take shape. More recently I'm grateful to Julian Harding of Halcyon Stud who has shared some of the butterfly breeding with me and given me back some super rabbits.

Alfie, a favourite old agouti, more of a retired pet now, but successful on the show table in his day. He has a wonderful head and front and is one of the sweetest natured bucks you'll ever meet!

Arthur is my most successful butterfly buck. He won the Butterfly CC at the London Championship Show and was runner-up at Bradford Championship Show. Holder of 27 stars & 2 Best of breeds.

William came to me from Neil Jefferis as a stud buck, with a view to improving coat texture & reducing the size in my lops. He matured so well that it seemed a shame not to show him and he's been consistently successful. I'm grateful to Neil for parting with such a handsome boy!

Bluebell, a reliable breeding doe who excels in both type and colour. She is one of Jack's daughters (a nice surprise as I didn't know he carried blue when I got him). Her dam, an opal doe bred by Christine Hunter, was a marvellous mother who always reared fat, healthy babies of excellent type. This sort of trait is often passed on to a doe's daughters and Bluebell is no exception.

One of Bluebell's daughters at 8 weeks old, sired by Samson, showing the exceptional depth of colour I get from this line.

This is Samson at the same age showing a very similar type.

Primrose looking every inch the excellent breeding doe she's turned out to be. I'm grateful to Hazel & Sarah Elliott for letting me have her.

Samson, like Pippin, sired by my original foundation buck who traced his bloodline back to my early line. He is my preferred black as he excels in head & type. He has only been beaten once for the CC and has gone on to win Best Lop on several occasions, and to my real delight, the AOC Self 5*CC at the Bradford Championship Show. Holder of 22 stars, 3 Best of Breed & 2 Best Lop Diplomas

Arthur, Pippin, William & Samson are all BRC champions.
